Amazon Dreams
'Amazon Dreams' by Anna Randolph is a truly amazing book. Through vivid flash backs, we learn about the life of Paula Deland, and her courageous, lonely battle to end the eons- old struggle between men and woman.
The author writes so well that it allows the usually vicarious reader into her characters mind and heart- one really cares and empathizes with her experiences on a deep level. For me, that is what reading is all about. My favorite parts were the descriptions of how Paula's physical training allowed her not only to compete on an even playing field, but also to own her power as a female and a professional. This is a book that I will read over and over, because the nuances of her journey continue to grow and resonate more fully each time.

Another Woman's House
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (January, 2001)
Author: Hamida B. Randolph

It's About Time
It was wonderful reading a book that discussed the world of dating from a Christian, single-mother's point of view. Ms. Randolph writes truth (with a touch of comedy). She's lived in the "REAL" world and understands what it's like out there. Not like some other books I've read. I highly recommend this book to any single woman who's looking for a new outlook on the world of dating.

A Cournacopia of Baseball Knowledge
BASEBALLISTICS is a veritable cournacopia of baseball knowledge and statistics. I read THE BASEBALL TRIVIA BOOK TO END ALL BASEBALL TRIVIA BOOKS.......PROMISE and I found it to be very entertaining. I found BASEBALLISTICS to be absolutely riveting. Like Bert (who I have known for almost 30 years), I am a fan of sports realted trivia and I have used his book as the ultimate trivia resource for settling any and all baseball arguements.

Becoming a Fly Fisher
Published in Hardcover by The Lyons Press (01 May, 2002)
Author: John Randolph
Average review score:

Why we fly fish!
Becoming a Fly Fisher is a beautifully written book. John Randolph has a talent for painting a picture in the mind of the reader where you share the love he has for his family, friends and fly fishing.

The book is filled with wonderful stories of hunting fish on a fly from all over the world. Randolph takes us to to great places to fish that we can endeavor to reach in our time. Of killer flies and matching the hatch. Of teachers and mentors that have come before him and that have made countless contributions to the sport.

This book is not a fly fishing manual. It uses fly fishing to help us see our place in nature, and what a wonderful opportunity we have in being part of it. We get a great chance to look into the heart of someone truly at the tenth level and each of us will take something different away from this book.

Enjoy it.

Biblical Interpretation: An Integrated Approach
Published in Hardcover by Hendrickson Publishers, Inc. (March, 1993)
Author: W. Randolph Tate
Average review score:

Great Book!!! BUY IT
Tate is brilliant on interpretation!!!

If you're a "thinker", you will love this book! Tate gets you thinking and opens your eyes to how one really interprets the Bible, and why they do interpret the way they do, all the presuppositions they bring to the table, and how that effects their interpretation.

He goes in depth on the three different forms of interpretation: Author centered, Text centered, and Reader centered. -- Later in the book he explores form criticism, source criticism, and redactional criticism and dozens of other forms of literary criticism.

I highly recommend this book to any serious student of the Bible! For you not so serious students, don't get this book, buy Gordon Fee's book on interpretation, it's much more understandable to the lay-man. Both are great books, this one is just much more technical and way more comprehensive.

You will not be dissapointed with this book (unless you were hoping for some easy reading).

Body and Soul
Published in Paperback by Creative Arts Book Co (01 January, 1999)
Author: Randolph Splitter
Average review score:

a harrowing adventure of a chinese american youth in NYC.
Randolph Splitter has truly captured the essence of human survival in this first time published new gem from the man who brought us Proust's Rechercghe (an analytical discussion of Proust.) Randolph has truly outdone himslef this time with a unique, often frightening look at the innerworkings of a young Chinese american boy, his experiences woith his immigrant parents, the confrontation with his mother's death and his emergence as a mature individual. Providing interest and theme progression are the characters of a Russian immigrant and a troubled young art student. This was a moving and compelling portrayal of these three individuals and a distinct description of what can only be called America. I give it two thumbs up!!! he's a great dad too!

The Book of Country Crafts
Published in Hardcover by A. S. Barnes (June, 1982)
Author: Randolph W. Johnston
Average review score:

A Hands-On Book
This is not a coffee-table book about Country Crafts. This is the go-to book for the hands-on craftsperson. Mr. Johnston trained as an architect, but worked as a sculptor. His book is packed with the practical information one needs to work with wood, clay, metals, stone and color (i.e., paints and dyes). In this book you will find recipes for mixing pottery glazes, instructions for making natural dyes, how to mix lime mortar, and what all those wood-working tools are for. (One of my favorite chapters is "How to Paint in Fresco"; not for the timid!)
The Book of Country Crafts came from Mr. Johnston's lifetime of experience working with materials to create beautiful objects.
